There is a library where the SharePoint workflow task lists are stored. While logging in as an administrator, check out for this list in your sites. May be you can go to Content Structure and check for all the sites. Normally if the site is deleted, this should not happen, but in your case may be the workflow task is triggering from some other library within the parent site.

I am also facing the same issue. One of the user is also getting task is overdue email. I can see that task with “Task created” status in workflow history list.

I have a case where a user has been getting a MOSS workflow task is overdue email for months. He would like to do something to eliminate the email message. However, the site to which the task refers no longer exists. Is there something that an spsadmin user could do to reject/delete this task? Thank you.

Sub classing would be to override the methods in the parent abstract class. In this case, the default methods, “IsGhosted” and “CanHaveServerControls” is overridden in the sub class customDFWP, as instructed in the kb article. This is done in a custom web part project in Visual Studio.

At the end when your customDFWP class is ready, you need to deploy this to assembly(GAC), to reference it into SharePoint, like any other web part assembly. And then follow steps 2 to 5.
